I'm a little shocked this one has no folks talking about this one in the forums. Everyone flocks to the schlock, but a MAPPA anime gets no traction? That doesn't seem like a good sign at all.

And, yeah, if it wasn't for Itaden Deities, I would argue this is MAPPA's worst anime. While its animation is still better than most, which is both its strength and biggest weakness, the art direction is very unappealing. the head shapes look like someone's first time designing anime characters, the two leads have extremely long necks that are distracting, and it's not like there isn't a solid foundation to the show's premise. Two friends who once ruled the world of baseball now lost due to one of them getting injured and forgetting everything about their lives and friendships. There is something here that could lay the groundwork for a good story.

That is if you can get past the grating comedy and characters. It's not like there aren't good baseball anime, but the characters in this one suck and it makes tolerating whatever dramatic moments there are not worth it. The blonde lead is extremely unlikable. His comedy schtick is repetitive and tiring.

Even if this does get better later down the line, getting there isn't worth the journey so far.
