The manga is part of Kodansha's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiative.

Manga Planet India describes the manga:

“You can keep drawing manga as long as you do the chores!”

Natsume Kanazawa is a 28-year-old manga artist. She draws manga professionally, but it hasn't been going well. When her live-in boyfriend asks her to accompany him to India on the premise of marriage, she decides to go along. That is where Natsume has a fateful encounter with a local girl. While bearing a frustrated expression, the girl mutters, “In India, it's normal for women to quit their jobs after getting married.” They may be from different countries and speak different languages, but they appear to have similar struggles. Natsume takes the first step and embarks on a life-changing adventure.

“Why do I need your permission to draw manga?!”

Shima is updating new chapters of the manga on the third Wednesday of every month. The manga project also got an accompanying television segment in Japan.

Shima attended Bengaluru Comic Con on November 18 and November 19 where she participated live drawing sessions and autograph sessions with fans. The Kodansha Comics by Manga Planet India booth at Bengaluru Comic Con gave out free copies of the first chapter of the manga to attendees of the event.

Shima launched her Babyun to Kareshi manga in Kodansha's Hatsu Kiss magazine in 2017. The manga won the Tomoko Ninomiya Award and the Hatsu Kiss Award at the 2nd Otona Shōjo Manga Awards.

Manga Planet India launched on November 15.
