posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
European anime distributor Anime Limited announced on Tuesday that it will release Hayao Miyazaki and Nippon Animation's Future Boy Conan anime. The release will have two Collector's Edition volumes with 13 episodes each. Each volume will include a Blu-ray Disc as well as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc.
The first volume release will include a slipcase that will be able to contain both volumes in one package. The first volume will ship in the first quarter of 2022.
The second volume of the release will also include a 132-page book by Jonathan Clements and Andrew Osmond that highlights the production history of the anime.
Anime Limited describes the anime:
Twenty years ago, a terrible war fought with magnetic weapons caused the earth's axis to tilt, and earthquakes and tidal waves destroyed civilization. Conan is born into this new world, raised by his adopted grandfather on an isolated island. But his life is forever changed when a mysterious girl named Lana washes ashore, pursued by shadowy operatives who seek to use her in a new scheme to control what's left of the world.
GKIDS will also release the anime on a 4K Blu-ray Disc in North America on November 16.
The sci-fi adventure anime premiered in 1978, and it ran for 26 episodes. The anime was Miyazaki's directorial debut.
Update: The bonus book will release with the second volume release, not the first as previously stated.
