Korean game publishing company CFK released Princess Maker 3: Fairy Tales Come True, the third installment in Gainax's Princess Maker game series, on June 27. The game is available for a discounted price of US$15.99 until July 4.
CFK described the game:
You, as the player, must take care of the little girl and raise her as own daughter. A fairy named Uzu appears as an advisor, and the new feature of selecting the player's ‘Occupation’ is added into the game system. Schedule system allows players to select 15 days of scheduling. From each class, unique rivals and events make an appearance to add drama elements to the game. The interface has been made simpler than previous Princess Maker series, and album mode allows you to view images from vacation or ending within the game.
The game shipped in Japan in January 1997 for the PlayStation, and eventually received releases on Windows PC, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast. Yukana Nogami (Card Captor Sakura's Meiling Li, Inuyasha's Kanna) voices the daughter in the game.
CFK first released Princess Maker 2: Refine, the voiced and full-color graphics version of the original Princess Maker 2, game last September. The company then released the similarly enhanced Princess Maker Refine on February 17. Yonago Gainax and CFK plan to eventually release the entire Princess Maker series on Steam.
Gainax's Takami Akai conceived, designed, and directed the franchise, which was among the first games in the "bishōjo simulation" genre. Gainax released the original Princess Maker game in 1991 on the MSX platform. Gainax released Princess Maker 5 on the PC in 2007, and on the PS2 and PSP in 2008. South Korean game developer MGame released a Princess Maker game for iOS and Android devices in September 2015. The games inspired the Petite Princess Yucie manga and 26-episode TV anime in 2002.
MGame also plans to release a game based on Princess Maker 2 for virtual reality headsets.
