Flying Witch Petit Short's 6th Episode Features Chinatsu Studying Kanji
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
The official website for the television anime of Chihiro Ishizuka's Flying Witch manga began streaming the sixth Flying Witch Petit short anime episode on Friday.
The episode begins with Chinatsu doing her homework: kanji drills. Akane decides to give her some lessons on the kanji. First, she shows the kanji for "fast," and explains that it's supposed to look like a witch riding a broom because it's faster to ride a broom than to walk.
When asked how to write the kanji for "play," Akane shows that the kanji has a cat riding alongside the witch on her broom. Next, she tells Chinatsu that the kanji for "carry" is a broom carrying luggage. Chinatsu then asks Akane what the kanji for "chase" (pronounced "Ou") looks like, to which Akane replies that it's a witch on a broom saying "Oh!"
However, when the little girl asks Akane what the kanji for "return" looks like, Akane rolls off, and Chinatsu guesses that she couldn't think of anything.
A "special version" of the first two episodes of the short will ship with the first DVD and Blu-ray Disc volume in Japan on June 22. The second DVD and Blu-ray Disc volume will ship with the third and fourth episodes, and then each of the subsequent home video releases will ship with one episode each, for a total of eight Flying Witch Petit episodes.
The main anime's comical story follows the 15-year-old witch Makoto Kowata and the other boys and girls in her daily life. With her black cat Chito, the somewhat aimless girl moved from Yokohama to live with her second cousin in Aomori in verdant northern Japan.
The main anime premiered on April 9. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs and Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series. Vertical will release Ishizuka's original manga in North America.
