I remember watching the English-dubbed version of the movie at Big Apple Anime Fest in 2002, where Watanabe, Toshihiro Kawamoto, and Yoko Kanno attended. I even have their autographs on a poster (framed now). One of my favorite anime memories.

It's truly sad that Unsho Ishizuka is not here to celebrate as well...

That's awesome!!! I've seen clips of the fight between Spike and Vincent, and even though I haven't seen the movie as a whole, it makes me wish there were more traditional hand-to-hand martial arts fights in anime than the over-the-top Shonen Jump fights we see in recent anime titles. I want to see this movie as a whole if it's available on Crunchyroll at all.

Hey, you know what would be cool for the anniversary? A reasonably priced US BD.

Is there a legal way to watch this in the US? Last time I looked you had to buy a very expensive out of print DVD.

If it's not, they should release it on Blu-Ray in the US. I've got the UK Blu-Ray and it's a great late era Cel animation transfer where all the colours are very bright and vibrant.

It was released on BD years ago by...I think it was Image Entertainment, though it only had the stereo mix of the dub instead of the 5.1 mix. Then FUNi released a steelbook of it for what felt like all of a month or two before it vanished, and for whatever bizarre reason they never released a standard version, despite multiple re-releases of the series over that time. (The same thing happened with the Code Geass movies, so I'm assuming there was some sort of rights weirdness going on.) It's kind of shocking that it's still not readily available in the US.
